The course develops competencies of transdisciplinary sustainable destination management and marketing. It provides an overview of how the current processes in the world can be directed so that all parties benefit and the environment does not suffer.

Upon the completion of the course the student:
1) defines and explain the characteristics of a destination;
2) describes the roles of destination management;
3) categorizes the stakeholders in destination management;
4) explains the 10 As of successful destinations;
5) analyses the uniqueness of destination management and marketing;
6) explains the principles of destination governance and stewardship;
7) describes the types of destination management organizations at different geographic levels.
